The purpose of supervisory activities is to promote a good safety culture in the region and to reduce damage to property and personal injuries caused by fires. The aim is to ensure that building owners and occupants and business and industrial operators comply with the obligations laid down in the Rescue Act. Supervisory activities also aim to ensure the operational conditions for rescue and emergency medical services in the event of an accident.

Supervisory activities include tasks specified in the Rescue Act, such as different kinds of fire inspections and document control duties. Document control duties include, among other things, the monitoring of emergency plans for public events and self-assessment forms regarding fire safety in detached houses.

The Rescue Department also performs duties related to chemicals control in accordance with chemical safety legislation.
