Kymenlaakso rescue department
The Kymenlaakso rescue department rescues and protects people, property and the environment in all rescue tasks. The Kymenlaakso rescue department coordinates preparedness, prevents accidents by educating and creating conditions for rescue with its professional, motivated and committed personnel.
The Kymenlaakso rescue department is one of Finland's 22 regional rescue services. The area of the rescue department includes all the municipalities of Kymenlaakso: Kouvola, Iitti (until the end of 2020), Kotka, Hamina, Virolahti, Miehikkälä and Pyhtää. The operations of the Kymenlaakso rescue department are directed by a board consisting of members elected by the municipalities in the area. In accordance with section 27 of the Rescue Act 379/2011, the Kymenlaakso rescue repartment is responsible for the service level of the rescue service.
