Instructions
- A notification must always be made to the regional rescue authority of prescribed burning and any use of fire that generates a substantial amount of smoke. Other open fires need not be notified.
- Open fires such as campfires, disposable barbecues, burning twigs, etc. open fires are always completely prohibited during a wildfire warning issued by the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Sending this fire notice does not authorize the lighting of an open fire while the warnings are in effect.
- Always check the Finnish Meteorological Institute's current wildfire, wind and other warnings before lightning open fire. If there are valid warnings in your area, postpone the fire and only carry it out in safe conditions. Fill and send the fire notification only then.
- In addition, making an open fire is always prohibited if the conditions due to drought, wind or other reason are such that there is an obvious risk of wildfire or other fire.
- Check whether the burning of garden waste is allowed in the area of your home municipality. Check the potential restrictions for the burning of garden waste from the waste management regulations of your area and the building ordinance of your home municipality/city.
