Private use of fireworks

Notify the local rescue authority of the private use of fireworks intended for consumers at least five (5) days before the event. The rescue authority will make a decision on the matter in writing. The rescue authority may impose conditions and restrictions on the activities that are necessary for safety reasons, or prohibit the use of fireworks. The use of distress signalling devices (emergency flares, hand flares, smoke) or giving a distress signal outside an emergency is a punishable offence.

Professional fireworks displays

The local police department must be notified of the organisation of a professional fireworks display. The organisers of fireworks displays are professional operators licensed by the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes). Other than in giving opinions to the police, the rescue authority has no authority over the matter.
