General information about incidents

The most important risks affecting essential functions of society and their probabilities have been assessed in Finland's national risk assessment, whereas regional risk assessments focus on more specific regional risks and their probabilities.

If lines are busy or websites are down, bulletins and local news on the radio will provide information about the situation.

You should not call the emergency number just to find out what is happening, as unnecessary calls jam the lines and slow down access to help for those who really need it. Only call the emergency number if there has been an accident, or an accident is obviously about to happen and it cannot be prevented. An example of an obvious hazard is a large tree falling down on a public road, a railway line or a power line. Trees that have fallen down in a park or a garden, or broken trees and ones that are about to fall down will be dealt with once the acute incident is over and resources are again available.
