Public safety communication

The goal of public safety communication is to teach people how to identify risks and prevent accidents and dangerous situations in advance.

Public safety communication is carried out through:

  • safety training,
  • public and other events,
  • campaigns.

Public safety communication also includes providing advice and guidance aimed at improving and supporting people’s safety-related attitudes, knowledge and skills. In addition, the aim is to support and guide customers in fulfilling their obligations under the Rescue Act.

Safety training

At the Länsi-Uusimaa Rescue Department, safety training is part of public safety communication services. Safety training includes teaching people first-aid fire extinguishing skills and how to act in various emergency situations.

The Rescue Department organises safety training mainly for pupils in pre-primary and secondary education, immigrants, elderly people and the staff of general education institutions and municipal care facilities.

The contract fire brigades and rescue organisations in the region also organise safety training for other target groups.
