The Government Decree on the reimbursement rate for the costs of ambulance service (emergency medical service) determines the price of ambulance transport, which consists of the departure charge, kilometre charge, surcharge for another paramedic and grounds for compensation of the waiting time charge.
According to the Health Insurance Act, the patient’s share of the invoice is 25 euros. An invoice will not be sent for tasks in which the patient is not transported by ambulance to a healthcare location. Exceptions to the above are those tasks in which a visit to a health care emergency department has been avoided thanks to the patient’s examination and treatment (e.g. analysis of the heart film, correction of blood sugar, correction of paroxysmal atrial tachycardia). In this case, the patient must pay the excess.
