Renting of bedrock shelters
The Rescue Department rents the bedrock shelters it maintains for various purposes, such as storage and recreational use. There are about 50 civil defence shelters that can be rented, and they are located in different parts of Helsinki.

The minimum length of rental agreements is six months. In the use of the premises, the tenant must take into account the regulations concerning underground spaces. For example, repair work and hot work in a bedrock shelter are prohibited. In addition, the tenant’s operations must be planned in such a way that, in the event of a dangerous situation, the shelter can be emptied within 72 hours.
