Rescue services are part of the Ministry of the Interior’s administrative sector and national steering. Organisationally, Helsinki City Rescue Department is part of the City of Helsinki’s Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division. The budget of the Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division has been separated from the budget of Municipal Helsinki in the city’s budget. The employees in the division are city employees.
The Deputy Mayor for Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services is Daniel Sazonov. The Deputy Mayor for Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services is the Chair of the Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Committee and a member of the City Board.
Our operations are guided and supervised by the Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Committee. The committee has two sub-committees, of which the Rescue Services Sub-committee handles matters related to the Rescue Department.
