Helsinki City Rescue Department

The Ministry of the Interior has granted EU funding from the Internal Security Fund (ISF) to the rescue services of Eastern Uusimaa, Central Uusimaa, Western Uusimaa and the City of Helsinki for a development project of urban search and rescue (USAR).

Firefighter Aki Pollari, 57, has been awarded the 2024 Stadin brankkari award. His ongoing career at the Rescue Department has lasted over 30 years.

At its meeting on 18 June 2024, the Helsinki Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Committee appointed Sanna Aivio, Master of Social Services and Health Care, as Principal of the Helsinki Rescue School.

Devices charged at home, often indoors, such as electric bikes and scooters and home electronics, create a risk which increases all the time.
