Pets Inside sticker and notice

If you have any pets at home, we encourage you to place a Huoneistossa lemmikkejä (Pets Inside) sticker on your front door, so that we can take your pets into consideration when arriving for a rescue mission. A good place to attach the sticker is above the mailbox. However, do not place it high up the door, as in the event of a fire, it may become covered by smoke.

In a notice that you should attach on the inner front door or on the inside of your front door, complete the information about any pets that are inside your home. List the animal species that are inside, as well as the number and possible locations of your pets, together with your own contact details. In the notice, you may also want to include images of the pets. This information helps our rescue and paramedic professionals to take your pets into consideration, while also ensuring their own safety at work. Print out a ready-made template that you can use to provide this additional information (In Finnish).

Huoneistossa lemmikkejä stickers are available at most pet stores, at other pet supply stores, as well as at some veterinary clinics. Stores, pharmacies and veterinary clinics can order these stickers from the Rescue Department. Unfortunately, we are unable to deliver stickers to individual households or outside Helsinki.

If you ever need to detach the sticker from your door, this can be done without leaving any mark by moistening the sticker with food oil before detaching it. To remove the food oil after detachment, use washing-up liquid.

Where are animals taken after an accident?

If we are unable to contact their owner, animals rescued from an accident are usually taken to Viikki Animal Shelter or the University of Helsinki Small Animal Hospital. If there is a designated minder who has agreed to take care of the animal in an emergency, it is a good idea to include that person’s details in the notice you attach on or near your front door.
