Applications accepted to the Helsinki Rescue School.

The application period for the rescuer course starting in autumn 2024 is open until Wednesday 17 January.

The Helsinki Rescue School trains professionals in rescue services who are able to act as experts in assignments related to the prevention of accidents, versatile rescue assignments, as well as emergency medical and ambulance services.

The rescuer education prepares the students for rescuer, firefighter, or firefighter-ambulance technician assignments around the country, and those who complete their degree are extremely likely to be employed.

The application period for the rescuer course starting in autumn 2024 is open until Wednesday 17 January. See further information about applying (in Finnish).

The rescuer training provided at the Rescue School is a 1,5-year vocational degree, with its curriculum following that of the state-run Emergency Services Academy Finland. In addition, regional competence requirements and contents have been integrated in the studies.
Diverse teaching methods and learning environments are utilised, according to the requirements of the topic at hand. Practical training and on-the-job learning play an essential role. Therefore, the studies are mostly contact studies, and the students are required to participate.

The Helsinki Rescue School is located in Jätkäsaari. In addition to the school’s facilities, much of the studies are carried out on various training areas and actual learning environments within the Helsinki region.

The bulletin has been updated on 28 December with information about the continuation of the appling for the Rescue School until 17 January 2024.
