Emergency access routes must be open.

Keeping the emergency access roads clear of snow is an important part of the property’s responsibilities and safety.

Snowfall has been heavy even in southern Finland, and it can be a challenge to find a place for this snow on properties. However, please remember that emergency access roads must be kept unobstructed and accessible for emergency vehicles. You must not pile snow in these areas. Furthermore, you may not park vehicles or place any other obstacles on emergency access roads, as this could endanger lives.

Helsinki City Rescue Department would like to remind you that keeping the emergency access roads clear of snow is an important part of the property’s responsibilities and safety.
Emergency access roads and hardstanding areas for lifting operations are easy to identify with the parking prohibition sign and supplementary plate. Even when ploughed, emergency access roads must be 3.5 metres wide and hardstanding areas 6x13 metres in size, so that an aerial platform vehicle can also operate if necessary.

It is in the common interest of all of us that first responders make it to the scene in time.
