Ministry of the Interior has launched investigation into an accident in connection with a building fire in Kerimäki
The Ministry of the Interior has appointed an investigation commission to investigate a building fire in Kerimäki on 1 May 2021, where one member of a contract fire brigade was seriously injured.
When extinguishing the fire, the member of the contract fire brigade was hit by collapsed structures. He was rescued from under the collapsed structures, but was seriously injured.
The investigation commission appointed by the Ministry of the Interior will investigate the factors leading to the accident and the injury of the person, how smooth the flow of communications was, and the factors related to occupational safety concerning the accident. On the basis of the information received, the commission will give recommendations on rescue service practices, technical solutions and training for the development of occupational safety in the field.
The commission will carry out its work independently and impartially. It may also consult other experts. The investigation is scheduled to be completed in December 2021.
