24.7.2026 | Finland has sent material assistance to Ukraine from the EU-funded rescEU emergency stockpile for the sixth time. The shipment from Finland included supplies against chemical, biological and radiological threats as well as personal protective equipment, among other supplies. The total value of the shipment is about EUR 1.7 million.

30.6.2026 | The Ministry of the Interior invites views on a draft government proposal to amend the Act on Emergency Warnings. The amendments would make the legislative changes required to introduce a cell broadcast public warning system. The consultation round closes on 14 July 2026.

18.6.2026 | The interior ministers of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany or their representatives have gathered for a meeting of the ministerial group on Baltic Sea Security on 17 and 18 June. The representatives of the countries will discuss drone-related threats in the region and joint measures to respond to these threats. The meeting is chaired by Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen.

2.6.2026 | Finland has delivered medicinal products to Ukraine from an EU-funded rescEU stockpile, which is hosted by Finland. The value of the delivery is about EUR 151,000. The need for assistance stems from Russia's war of aggression, and the delivery is part of EU support for Ukraine.

13.5.2026 | The rescEU Medical Stockpile hosted in Finland reached its full material readiness at the end of April. All products specified in the original plan have now been purchased and stored and they are ready to go. The project was completed on schedule, thanks to seamless cooperation among the different parties.

7.7.2026 | Each responsible ministry is identifying the critical entities within its sector in line with legislation based on the European Union CER Directive. The aim is to reinforce society’s preparedness and improve the resilience of critical infrastructure. The statutory deadline under the Finnish CER Act for designating entities is 17 July 2026.

10.7.2026 | The Finnish Ministry of the Interior requests views on a draft government proposal to extend the validity of the Act on Temporary Measures to Combat Instrumentalised Migration, known as the Border Security Act. The purpose of the act is to prevent the use of instrumentalised migration to put pressure on Finland. 

9.7.2026 | On 9 July, the President of the Republic approved amendments proposed by the Government to legislation governing information exchange between authorities. The amendments will simplify the exchange of information between the police and other authorities. The legislative amendments will enter into force on 1 October 2026.
