Press release

On 14 April, Finland sent two ambulances and rescue service supplies to Ukraine and medical supplies to Moldova. In addition, a donation of medicinal products was delivered to Ukraine. The material assistance was provided through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.

In recent weeks, Finland has sent material assistance to Ukraine and its neighbouring regions, and experts to Poland and Slovakia to help coordinate the assistance delivered through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism. The EU’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre is coordinating the assistance delivered to Ukraine and its neighbouring regions through the Mechanism.

“The need for assistance in the Ukraine crisis and neighbouring regions has not ceased, and different kinds of civilian material assistance will be needed urgently for a long time. Finland will continue providing assistance actively. The latest consignment of assistance consists of badly needed medical supplies as well as ambulances and rescue service materials. Putting together these assistance packages would not be possible without a strong will to help and good coordination between various parties, and my warmest thanks go out to everyone involved,” Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen says.
