

Government proposes extension for introducing real time text in emergency calls
The Government proposes that the transitional period for introducing real time text in emergency calls be extended. It must be possible to submit an emergency call using real time text by 28 June 2027.

Government supplementary budget proposal invests in readiness and preparedness
The Government submitted its second supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to Parliament on Wednesday 28 May. The supplementary budget proposes funding for the development of civil defence and the emergency warning system as well as for the maritime capabilities of the Finnish Border Guard.

Minister of the Interior Rantanen meets with other ministers responsible for preparedness in Brussels
Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen attended a meeting on EU civil preparedness and resilience in Brussels, Belgium, on 22 May. The aim of the meeting, convened by the Netherlands, was to launch a ministerial-level coalition to promote preparedness in the EU. The need for the coalition arises from the current geopolitical situation and the Preparedness Union Strategy published by the Commission in March.
