Ministerial group on Baltic Sea Security in Helsinki: Joint measures to respond to drone-related threats complement national preparedness
The interior ministers of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany or their representatives have gathered for a meeting of the ministerial group on Baltic Sea Security on 17 and 18 June. The representatives of the countries will discuss drone-related threats in the region and joint measures to respond to these threats. The meeting is chaired by Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen.
Act on Emergency Warnings to be amended
The Ministry of the Interior has set up a project to prepare amendments to the Act on Emergency Warnings to introduce a cell broadcast public warning system in Finland.
Finland delivers medicinal products from EU emergency stockpile to Ukraine
Finland has delivered medicinal products to Ukraine from an EU-funded rescEU stockpile, which is hosted by Finland. The value of the delivery is about EUR 151,000. The need for assistance stems from Russia's war of aggression, and the delivery is part of EU support for Ukraine.
Finland to introduce new emergency warning system this year
A new emergency warning system complementing the existing systems will be built in Finland by the end of October 2026. The new FI-Alert system will complement the current emergency warning system by delivering faster and more accurately targeted regional warnings directly to mobile phones. The Ministry of the Interior and Erillisverkot Group signed an agreement on implementing the FI-Alert system on 28 May 2026.
