Finland delivers medicinal products from EU emergency stockpile to Ukraine
Finland has delivered medicinal products to Ukraine from an EU-funded rescEU stockpile, which is hosted by Finland. The value of the delivery is about EUR 151,000. The need for assistance stems from Russia's war of aggression, and the delivery is part of EU support for Ukraine.
Finland to introduce new emergency warning system this year
A new emergency warning system complementing the existing systems will be built in Finland by the end of October 2026. The new FI-Alert system will complement the current emergency warning system by delivering faster and more accurately targeted regional warnings directly to mobile phones. The Ministry of the Interior and Erillisverkot Group signed an agreement on implementing the FI-Alert system on 28 May 2026.
Public warning sirens to be tested again on Monday 1 June
This is a routine monthly test of public warning sirens. Sirens are tested at 12.00 noon on the first Monday of each month, except on public holidays.
Further instructions on drone threat warnings published
The Ministry of the Interior’s rescue authorities have provided further instructions for the public regarding drone threat warnings and emergency warnings. The instructions are available on the pelastustoimi.fi website.

Rescue authorities found shortcomings in the fire safety and provision of safe egress in shops
Uusimaa rescue departments conducted control visits at various shops between November 22 and December 1, 2021. This was the second time control was implemented in cooperation between the Uusimaa rescue departments. In total, the control visits covered 197 shops around Uusimaa. Rescue authorities focused particularly on the fire safety and provision of safe egress.
Rescue departments inspect shops in Uusimaa
Rescue departments in the Uusimaa region will carry out inspection visits to commercial premises in their areas during the holiday shopping season. In particular, the inspections will focus on the safety of exit routes in shops and stores.
Residents interested in the safety of their detached houses in Western Uusimaa
Last summer, the Western Uusimaa Rescue Department sent a fire safety self-assessment form to some of the residents of detached houses in its area. This year, the letter was sent to approximately 5,200 households.

The wellbeing services county of Western Uusimaa will start operating in 2023.
The new website of the Länsi-Uusimaa Rescue Department has been published
The new website of the Länsi-Uusimaa Rescue Department has been published on the pelastustoimi.fi platform as part of the Rescue Services’ project aimed at harmonising its online communication. Most of Finland’s 22 rescue departments will transfer their websites to the joint platform.
