Amendments proposed to Act on Emergency Warnings
On 27 August, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal to amend the Act on Emergency Warnings. The amendments would make the legislative changes needed for introducing a public warning system based on cell broadcast technology. The amendments are scheduled to enter into force on 1 November 2026.
Finland delivers assistance from EU emergency stockpile to Ukraine
Finland has sent material assistance to Ukraine from the EU-funded rescEU emergency stockpile for the sixth time. The shipment from Finland included supplies against chemical, biological and radiological threats as well as personal protective equipment, among other supplies. The total value of the shipment is about EUR 1.7 million.
Views requested on amendments to Act on Emergency Warnings
The Ministry of the Interior invites views on a draft government proposal to amend the Act on Emergency Warnings. The amendments would make the legislative changes required to introduce a cell broadcast public warning system. The consultation round closes on 14 July 2026.
