Finland sends material assistance to ensure water supply in Ukraine
During the summer, Finland has sent water purification materials, water containers, pumps and intensive chlorination units to Ukraine to strengthen the country’s water supply. In addition, new shipments of water production materials and wastewater purification equipment are under preparation. Finland will continue to support Ukraine.
Finland has already delivered 238 truckloads of civilian material assistance to Ukraine
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Finland has delivered civilian material assistance to Ukraine. This assistance has consisted mainly of donations from the private and public sectors. The Ministry of the Interior is coordinating the provision of assistance to Ukraine through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
Finland to send emergency aid to Ukraine following destruction of Kakhovka dam
Finland will send emergency aid to southern Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. In response to Ukraine's request, Finland will deliver water purification material and food packages to the country. In addition, preparations are being made to send additional assistance on the basis of updated requests from the Ukrainian authorities. The human and environmental impacts of the explosion of the Kakhovka dam that took place on Tuesday 6 June are significant. Since March 2022, Finland has provided Ukraine with civilian material assistance. Finland will continue its support to Ukraine.
Minister Mikkonen to travel to Brussels for informal ministerial meeting on CBRN threats
On 30 May 2023, Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen will attend an informal meeting of EU civil preparedness ministers in Brussels on CBRN threats (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear).
