The regional government reform will harmonise the structures of preparedness
An abnormal situation that tests the structures and preparedness of a society can occur without warning. The most critical objective of preparedness planning is to ensure functional preparedness in unexpected circumstances and to secure uninterrupted operational capacity in the various abnormal conditions. The regional government reform emphasises the harmonisation of preparedness models and the structural flexibility of the various security actors.
Ministry of the Interior and Finnish Red Cross to enhance cooperation in contingency planning and preparedness
The Ministry of the Interior and the Finnish Red Cross further strengthened their cooperation by signing a cooperation agreement on contingency planning and preparedness on 26 April.
The Crisis Management Centre will move to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and rescue training will be held in Kuopio
The Crisis Management Centre (CMC Finland), operating in connection with the Emergency Services College, will move from Kuopio to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. On the other hand, rescue education will be provided in Kuopio when the operation of the Helsinki Rescue School will cease in connection with the regional government reform. In the future, all rescuers will be trained in Kuopio. Education and recruiting related to international rescue services will also be moved to the Emergency Services College.
Ilkka Salmi appointed as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior
The Government has appointed Ilkka Salmi, Master of Laws, to the post of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior. The fixed-term appointment is for five years.
