In its spending limits discussion, the Government agreed on strengthening the resources of the police, the Finnish Border Guard, the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service and civil defence in order to prepare for wide-ranging threats. The capabilities of the internal security authorities are an essential part of Finland's comprehensive security.
New amendment to allow municipal health protection authorities to issue emergency warnings
The Act on Emergency Warnings will be amended to include a provision on powers of municipal health protection authorities to issue emergency warnings. The Government proposed in its session on 24 April that the President of the Republic approve the amendment to the Act on Emergency Warnings. The President of the Republic is scheduled to approve the amendment on Friday and it will enter into force on 2 May 2025.

Finland has sent material assistance to the regions affected by earthquake in Myanmar through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The assistance consists of storage and hall tents and water purification tablets requested by the country.
