Flags at half mast due to the incident in Turku
Following the tragic events in the City of Turku that shocked the entire nation, the Ministry of the Interior of Finland has decided that government agencies and public bodies will fly flags at half mast on Saturday 19 August 2017. Flags are to be flown at half mast until at 21.00.
Finland will be better prepared to provide and receive international assistance
The legislation on Finland’s preparedness to provide and receive international assistance will be specified within the mandate of the Ministry of the Interior. The President of the Republic approved the amendments on 28 June.
Ministry of the Interior takes part in World Village Festival on 27–28 May 2017
The Administration Committee of Parliament and the Ministry of the Interior will have a joint stand at the World Village Festival, which takes place in Kaisaniemi Park and Railway Square in Helsinki.
Thirteen people awarded with Life Saving Medals
The President of the Republic awarded Life Saving Medals to thirteen persons of merit on 24 May. A Life Saving Medal is given in recognition of a deed that has been very brave, resourceful or done while risking one’s own life, and which has resulted in saving another person’s life from danger.
